I’m ridiculously excited to have an entry space in our new home. We kinda have a rule around here that shoes aren’t allowed in the house… I have good reason for it though! With animals + poop everywhere, not having shoes in the house has drastically reduced my need to clean floors as often. It’s also proven to reduce germs in your home by up to 90% keeping us healthier and sick far less often than anyone else I know. But that’s a story for another day! Ha.

It’s always a difficult matter for me when it comes to guests. I don’t want guests to feel unwelcome or like I’m being too picky, but I do want that rule to be maintained for all who enter our home. So I need a welcoming craftsman/ farmhouse foyer design to solve this problem.

I’m thinking about getting this doormat for the new house to help remind people to take those shoes off!

Shoes Off Mat

We currently just have a little sign taped to our storm door but the problem still remains: Where do people take their shoes off!?

In our current home, our front door opens right up into the living room where my babies play. Guests usually leave their shoes by the door, but baby still tends to find them!

Enter the foyer!

I’m so excited to create a welcoming, comfortable place for guest to get comfy at our home.

With a bench for taking shoes off or on, hooks for purses and diaper bags, a mirror for touch ups before you go, and a basket for piles of shoes, I think this designated space will solve the shoes off problem! (+ Make guests feel more welcome!)

Do ya’ll have a “shoes off” rule? How do you deal with that with guests?
