Choosing a Bathtub Faucet

Plumber is done stubbing up and the slab is on the way! (See Weeks 1-2 progress here!) So my next job is choosing a bathtub faucet! Right now we live in a 3 bed, 1 and a half bath home. With only one shower, I feel like we’ll be living a dream life in the new house with a large walk-in shower with duel shower heads and a separate freestanding tub just for me!

This was my inspo for my hotel/spa inspired bath:

Not that these gorgeous freestanding tubs and floor mount faucets aren’t possible, but it turns out our budget just doesn’t allow for it. (Running water lines through a slab = not cheap!) There’s been some things that demand compromise and that’s ok – this isn’t our forever home, but there’s definitely some things I just don’t want to wiggle on and a freestanding tub is one of them. There’s just something so luxurious and hotel-esk about a freestanding tub! So our plumber gave us some ideas for how to compromise, but still give me my dream bathtub.

The Solutions:

The first solution is a built in soaking tub. That’s not my favorite idea. The next (and I think, best!) option is to add a small pony wall to the back wall and push the tub up against it. Here we can add a wall mount or a deck mount faucet. I actually don’t hate this idea, because it gives me somewhere to put candles, plants and – of course – bubble bath! Plus these faucets are typically much more affordable to purchase in the first place – not to mention the install of a floor mount one.

Here’s some of my favorite inspo for this idea:

So now – I just have to decide! Which faucet is your favorite? Do you prefer deck, wall or floor mounts?
